EmilCeramica, a leading Italian porcelain tile manufacturer, has announced a major expansion of the use of recycled material in its manufacturing processes. The bulk of EmilCeramica products, including those marketed under the Ergon Engineered Stone brand, are now manufactured using up to 44% pre-consumer recycled content and will support the requirements of the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Rating System for "New Construction & Major Renovations version 2.2." Enhancing sustainable architecture with stone

The sleek design of the Visionaire -- a luxury residential high-rise in Battery Park, New York City -- is not only a testament to the aesthetically pleasing results of the use of stone in architecture, but it is also an example of environmentally friendly building. The design was conceived in 2005, and from the beginning, the Visionaire was targeted for LEED Platinum Certification from the Green Building Council. The building represents the third green residential project designed under the collaborative leadership of Albanese Development Corp. and Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. Full article

ASID CEU Accredited Course by Patti Fasan, Certified CTC
WASHINGTON, DC -- A one-day course entitled "Design Expertise with Ceramic Tile," which was submitted by Tile of Spain Consultant Patti Fasan, has been approved by the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC).
