 The "Green Movement"

by Jennifer Adams, Editor

NotesIt appears that the "Green Movement" has gone full throttle -- virtually overnight.  Each day, it seems that I hear some form of it being promoted in radio spots or television commercials or see an ad in print -- whether it is for an environmentally friendly product or an organization working to promote "going green." Even a new broadband television channel called "Green.TV" is being advertised, including various celebrity endorsements.  Click here to read more.

Skylights_Beige_Green_Melange_and_Moss_Stag_JointeditedThe new Skylights series of glass tile from Arizona Tile provides a mix of colors and finishes that accentuate any decor, according to the company. Available in nine colors, including browns, greens, grays and blues, the glossy and matte finishes allow designers to use them in a variety of applications. The 3- x 6-inch staggered joint tiles provide an uncommon, larger glass tile, which creates a unique installation. For those really looking to add a splash of color, the mélange and stack patterns, all combining a variety of colors, create a stunning look, reports Arizona Tile. Frost-proof and acid-resistant, Skylights glass tiles can be used in any swimming pool, commercial or residential application.

by Alexis Fisher, Assistant Editor

RiverwalkTo merge with the historic context of the King Williams District in San Antonio, TX, there was no question that Old Yellar limestone would be chosen for the exterior of a new private residence. And when it came time to extend the home some years later, stone once again would be the first and final decision for the exterior. Yet perfectly matching the existing structure would be a goal only achieved by the assistance of a skilled masonry team, according to Heather McKinney, AIA, of McKinney Architects Inc. in Austin, TX, who served as the lead architect for the project.
