It appears that the "Green Movement" has gone full throttle -- virtually overnight. Each day, it seems that I hear some form of it being promoted in radio spots or television commercials or see an ad in print -- whether it is for an environmentally friendly product or an organization working to promote "going green." Even a new broadband television channel called
"Green.TV" is being advertised, including various celebrity endorsements. Click here to read more.
The new Skylights series of glass tile from Arizona Tile provides a mix of colors and finishes that accentuate any decor, according to the company. Available in nine colors, including browns, greens, grays and blues, the glossy and matte finishes allow designers to use them
in a variety of applications. The 3- x 6-inch staggered joint tiles provide an uncommon, larger glass tile, which creates a unique installation. For those really looking to add a splash of color, the mélange and stack patterns, all combining a variety of colors, create a stunning look, reports Arizona Tile. Frost-proof and acid-resistant, Skylights glass tiles can be used in any swimming pool, commercial or residential application.
The latest trends in stone production and tile manufacturing can bring the most original statement to any design. Click here for a sampling of some of the recent collections available on today's market.

company logo, which was inlaid in the floor. Full article
To merge with the historic context of the King Williams District in San Antonio, TX, there was no question that Old Yellar limestone would be chosen for the exterior of a new private residence. And when it came time to extend the home some years later, stone once again would be the first and final decision for the exterior. Yet perfectly matching the existing
structure would be a goal only achieved by the assistance of a skilled masonry team, according to Heather McKinney, AIA, of McKinney Architects Inc. in Austin, TX, who served as the lead architect for the project. Full article
New study confirms commonly used granite is safe for countertops
A new study of the most popular granites used for kitchen countertops in the U.S. concludes that granite is safe to use in kitchens.
The study, designed to determine whether radon gas sometimes released by natural stone poses any health risk, was released by the Marble Institute of America (MIA) and conducted by an independent geochemistry researcher. Included in this study were 13 of the most popular types of granites used in countertop applications, representing up to 85% of the granite countertops sold in the U.S. Click here to read more.
